International Day

World Mental Health Day

Upcoming

Why the World Mental Health Day matters for care, and how the Alliance and its members mark it.

The World Mental Health Day is observed every year, and the Alliance marks it because it touches the work of care: who gives it, who receives it, and what it costs the people who do it unpaid.

Why it matters for care

Caring takes a toll that is rarely measured: exhaustion, isolation and the anxiety of never being off duty. The day is a chance to talk about the mental health of carers, not only of those they care for.

How the Alliance marks the day

  • A statement from the secretariat, signed by the member organisations working on the theme.
  • An online conversation with members from three regions, recorded and shared afterwards.
  • A set of facts and figures on the day’s theme and care, for members to use in their own channels.

Take part

Members are invited to mark the day in their own channels and to tell the secretariat what they did; it is collected for the members’ newsletter. Materials are available in English and Spanish a week ahead.
