International Day of Care and Support

The International Day of Care and Support is observed every year, and the Alliance marks it because it touches the work of care: who gives it, who receives it, and what it costs the people who do it unpaid.

Why it matters for care

The Alliance’s own day. Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2023, it recognises care and support as a public good and a shared responsibility, which is the principle the Alliance was founded on.

How the Alliance marks the day

• An online conversation with members from three regions, recorded and shared afterwards.
• A set of facts and figures on the day’s theme and care, for members to use in their own channels.
• A call for stories from members: what the day looks like in their country and in their work.

Take part

Members are invited to mark the day in their own channels and to tell the secretariat what they did; it is collected for the members’ newsletter. Materials are available in English and Spanish a week ahead.
