World Day of Social Justice

The World Day of Social Justice is observed every year, and the Alliance marks it because it touches the work of care: who gives it, who receives it, and what it costs the people who do it unpaid.

Why it matters for care

Care work is the clearest case of an economy that runs on labour it does not count. The day puts the unpaid and underpaid work of caring where the Alliance believes it belongs: at the centre of any conversation about a fair economy.

How the Alliance marks the day

• A set of facts and figures on the day’s theme and care, for members to use in their own channels.
• A call for stories from members: what the day looks like in their country and in their work.
• A briefing for policymakers on the care dimension of the day’s theme.

Take part

Members are invited to mark the day in their own channels and to tell the secretariat what they did; it is collected for the members’ newsletter. Materials are available in English and Spanish a week ahead.
